Enhanced Massage - includes Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) (£30.00/£35.00)
This massage is ideal for anyone training regularly or taking part in team sports. Inadequate stretching at the end of a training session/game can lead to shortened muscles, which can impact on flexibility/range of motion (ROM) and ultimately, performance. The affected muscle(s) is massaged to ease any tension and help relax the muscle. This is followed by METs, which is the collective name for a variety of techniques to stretch or strengthen the muscle, or break down fibrous adhesions. (Approx 45 mins)
Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR) – A MET which works on the principle of passively stretching the agonist (primary) muscle during the period of deep relaxation, which occurs immediately following an Isometric contraction.
Reciprocal Inhibition (RI) – Similar to PIR, however this technique works by stretching the antagonist (secondary or opposing) muscle, once the contraction is released but before the muscle has time to return to it’s normal tone. |
